Copying & Pasting Checklists

 

Copying a Checklist from another Issue

Note that pasting a Checklist by this method will render a new checklist with all items are unchecked/in an Open status. Item descriptions will not be included in the pasted checklist.

You can copy a local checklist from one issue and paste it into another:

  1. Navigate to the source issue.

  2. Click the … menu on the checklist toolbar.

  3. Select Copy checklist.

  4. Navigate to the target issue.

  5. Click the … menu on the checklist toolbar.

  6. Select Paste checklist.

  7. The item input field will be highlighted in blue. Paste the entire list from the clipboard into the input field.

  8. Click the checkmark on the list item toolbar. The list will be pasted to the issue.

 

 

Copying a Checklist with Item Statuses Intact

You can also copy/paste a local checklist via the Checklist Editor. This method will preserve the current status (checked/unchecked, Open, Done, etc.) of the Checklist items.

  1. Navigate to the source issue.

  2. Click the pencil icon to open the Checklist Editor.

  3. Type Ctrl+A / Cmd+A to select all of the content.

  4. Type Ctrl+C / Cmd+C to copy the content to the clipboard.

  5. Navigate to the target issue.

  6. Click the pencil icon to open the Checklist Editor.

  7. Type Ctrl+V / Cmd+V to paste the contents of the clipboard.

  8. Click Save.

 

 

Copying a Checklist from an External Source

Copying and pasting via the Checklist Editor allows you to instantly create a local checklist from a bullet list in an external sources (Word, Trello, OSX Notes, web page, etc.). See this page to learn more about formatting lists in the Editor.

  1. Copy the source list to the clipboard.

  2. Navigate to the target issue.

  3. Click the pencil icon to open the Checklist Editor.

  4. Type Ctrl+V / Cmd+V to paste the contents of the clipboard into the Editor.

  5. Click Save.
