How checklist items are stored in Jira
Checklist items are stored in the following Jira custom fields by default:
The above is true as long as the “Save checklist data to Jira custom fields” option is enabled in Global Configuration.
The above custom fields are not visible on any screen by default. If you want to see them in Jira, then please read how to add a custom field to a screen in Jira.
To export checklist items along with other issue data, please use the the Checklist Text field as it is easier to read for humans.
How to export checklist items from Jira
Use one of the following ways of exporting checklist data out of Jira:
Backup Jira (export Jira issues)
That is useful for backup purposes or when migrating to other Jira instance.
Don’t use this way to export checklist data when migrating to other plugin or non-Jira system.Use Jira REST API to read issues (checklist)
That is useful if you want to migrate Jira issues to a non-Jira system or migrate checklist to other plugin or system.
